Spring, 2015. A woman came to the hospital for abortion. Pregnant with her 5th child, she and her husband already had four girls, and the youngest two were twins. At the hospital, she was told she was about 8 weeks along. She was afraid that the abortion procedure would harm her, but her husband was pressuring her to have the abortion because of the stigma of having too many children, and because of concern over their finances.

She spoke with our counselor, and then left to wait the required 3 days before having the procedure. As she returned for abortion 3 days later, she was praying that God would stop her. In preparation for the procedure, the doctor did a second ultrasound and realized that she was further along than originally anticipated, and told her that by law she now needed to go to the capital city and start a whole different process in order to have the abortion. She told us later that when she learned this, she decided that “as long as I’m in my right mind there is no way I will do that”. She made the courageous decision to keep her baby, despite the pressure of her husband.

On September 11, 2015, she gave birth to a baby BOY!! Her husband is now overjoyed to have a son. She has told us: “I’m so happy because I chose life for myself and my unborn baby!” “I will always be thankful that you were with me in the most difficult period of my life. God sent you. Thank you.”
